- Elevate the head of your bed by 6–8 inches if you experience nighttime heartburn.
- Avoid tight clothing around the waist as it puts pressure on the stomach.
- Reduce stress through exercise and meditation as stress increases acid production.
- Quit smoking as it weakens the valve that prevents acid from entering the esophagus.
